Coronavirus Precautions – May 3, 2020

Dear Residents, Families and Employees:

Edgewood Summit has worked hard to maintain the safety of our Residents and Employees with a COVID-19 Response Plan which began in early March 2020.  Edgewood Summit has been communicating regularly with Employees, Residents and Families as well as our privately employed Caregivers.  As a result of the early and continued efforts, the Community has experienced a great deal of cooperation and collaboration for all concerned and the results have been favorable.

Today, Edgewood Summit learned that a privately employed Caregiver has tested positive for COVID-19.  The Caregiver only works for one Ridgemont Resident.  Neither the Caregiver nor the Resident have any symptoms.  The Caregiver is self-isolating at home and has not worked at The Ridgemont since last Friday, May 1st.  Out of an abundance of caution, the Resident is being tested for COVID-19 and results should be known within the next 24-48 hours.  During this waiting period for test results, Edgewood Summit’s Response Plan will be in effective and treat as if it is a positive case. The Ridgemont is to be treated as an isolation zone until we know the results.  Only Nursing Staff are now permitted in The Ridgemont.  The Nursing Staff have dedicated assignments to ensure the Resident remains cared for by a limited number of direct care staff members in full personal protective equipment.  The Ridgemont main entrance is not available for use until the isolation zone is discontinued.  All foot traffic will re-route to the main entrance.

We rely on the continued cooperation of our entire team of Residents, Family members and Employees.  We must insist everyone continue to abide by the guidelines for everyone’s safety.  Thank you and we will update everyone with the results of the test promptly.  Please keep good thoughts and prayers coming our way.

Sincerely,

Diane Gouhin
