COVID-19 Update | April 2, 2021

Safety Update

Edgewood Summit continues to be encouraged with the high vaccination rate of our Residents (99%) and the number of our Employees who are vaccinated grows each week.  The Employee rate now stands at 70% for Employees and Auxiliary Staff.   Edgewood Summit is proud to be among those with the safest record throughout the COVID pandemic.  We continue to focus on safety and transparency as Employees continue to be tested twice per week as mandated by Governor Jim Justice.  We did have two Employees from the Hodges Center test positive this week so protocols for Outbreak measures were enacted.   The Employees are self-isolating at home and doing well.

COVID Vaccination at Edgewood Summit continues to be made available with the help of the local pharmacy partnership with RX by Tel.   This allows us to ensure new Residents, Employees, Auxiliary Staff, private Caregivers, and Family Members have access to the COVID vaccine on a weekly basis.  Requests for vaccination can be made at our Reception desks.    The Employee Vaccination Campaign is still in progress with our goal for 75 percent or more of Employees to be vaccinated.  The WV centralized system for the general public continues to be available at 1-833-734-0965 or www.vaccinate.wv.gov.  Governor Justice is now permitting persons 16 years of age and older to get vaccinated in West Virginia.

The Independent Living Residents who are fully vaccinated are encouraged to invite visitors to their apartment homes whether vaccinated or not.  Masks and social distancing while in private settings are no longer required if all have been fully vaccinated or if non-vaccinated, low risk and from the same household.  Otherwise, masks and social distancing are still recommended.

In the Health Care Settings of Edgewood Summit (such as the Ridgemont and the Hodges Center Apartments) or for all Public, Common area settings such as shared rooms of the Community, masks and proper social distancing are still required with no changes at this time.  Fully vaccinated Residents in health care settings may forgo social distancing but masks are required at all times with others.

Please continue to:

  • Wear a well-fitted Mask in the common areas within the building and when visiting with non-vaccinated individuals at increased health risk or those from multiple households.
  • Socially distance from others at a minimum of 6 feet in public settings and in private settings with those who are non-vaccinated or at increased risk when possible.
  • Hand wash frequently and use proper cough etiquette.
  • Get tested if symptoms of COVID are suspected.
  • Avoid non-essential travel.  If travel is necessary, Residents do not need to quarantine upon return if fully vaccinated and have no symptoms and have not been in contact with a COVID positive person.  If quarantine is necessary, the requirement is 10 days.
  • All entry screening is done through the main lobbies/reception areas.  Please do not enter without being screened.  Contact the Nursing office to arrange the rapid COVID test at 304-346-2355 or 304-347-1954.
  • Activities are taking place in person as well as virtual settings.
  • The Edgewood Summit Dining Rooms are open on a daily basis.  A maximum capacity of diners at a given time is observed.  The Café is encouraging dining outdoors on the Courtyard patio, weather permitting.
