Edgewood Summit Update – COVID Protocols Increase
West Virginia and Kanawha County are seeing an increase in positive COVID rates once again in large part to the Omicron variant BA.2. This new variant is more contagious and therefore has a quicker ability to spread from person to person. The positivity rate is an increase of upwards of 11.6 percent per day and is considered to have a moderately high risk.
This new uptick in positive cases has also impacted Edgewood Summit. In the past 14 days, we have seen 6 Independent Living Residents and 3 Staff test positive. All are expected to have a full recovery.
Mask Guidance is now Mandatory for Residents and Guests due to the positive cases. We will be postponing group Activities, group Dining, Beauty Salon services and the Café will be for take-out only beginning today May 31, 2022 for at least a two-week period or until there are no new positive cases. In addition, all Independent Living Residents, Employees and Caregivers in Independent Living will need to be tested for COVID at least once per week for a period of two weeks or until there are no further positive cases.
The Kanawha Charleston Health Department has asked for the testing out of an abundance of caution. We test to find the positive cases to prevent more from occurring.
Testing will be scheduled for Residents by each floor and conducted in the Multipurpose Room on Thursday, June 2, 2022.

Third Floor 2:00 p.m..
B Wing First Floor 2:30 p.m.
Second Floor 3:00 p.m.
B Wing Third Floor 3:30 p.m.
D Wing First Floor 4:00 p.m.

Third Floor 5:00 p.m.
Employees and Caregivers are to test when reporting for work on Thursday, June 2, 2022.
