COVID-19 Update | October 15, 2020

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that two Residents from the Arthur B. Hodges Center (Hodges Center) recently passed away after testing positive for COVID-19. All deaths are difficult to absorb and these are no different. We are deeply saddened and our condolences and prayers go out to their families and loved ones. We take solace in knowing both Residents had requested comfort measures only and hospice was involved. We shall celebrate their vibrant lives despite our collective grief.

We began testing all Residents and Team Members at the Hodges Center twice every week as part of our outbreak protocol following a positive Employee case in our Memory Support Unit. The expanded testing is geared toward promptly finding all active COVID-19 cases and limiting exposure within the Edgewood Summit family. The results of our most recent testing on Monday, October 12, identified No New Positive Cases. While we are pleased with this result, we will continue administering strict mitigation efforts to prevent further spread of the virus.

In total, we have five Residents at the Hodges Center who had previously tested positive for COVID-19. These residents are in isolation where they are resting comfortably and are experiencing mild or no symptoms at this time. We have a dedicated team that solely provides care to the impacted individuals. This team is completely separated from the rest of our community.

Presently, we have two previously identified positive team member cases. Both individuals are self-isolating in their respective homes and we wish them a speedy recovery.

Testing will commence twice each week for the foreseeable future with the next round scheduled for Thursday, October 15. We will continue to provide you with updates as more information becomes available.

We appreciate our families who entrust us with caring for their loved ones. Our team is doing our absolute best to keep everyone healthy and safe. Thank you for your kind words, support and prayers throughout this unprecedented period.
