Executive Director Diane Gouhin Celebrates 25 Years at Edgewood Summit

This week our community is celebrating an amazing milestone for our Executive Director, Diane Gouhin, who is celebrating her 25th Anniversary at the community! Not only is it Diane’s 25th Anniversary though, it is also Edgewood Summit’s 25th year of being open, meaning our dedicated Executive Director has been here since the beginning, leading us through every phase of development that our community has gone through, and we couldn’t be more thankful for her amazing leadership throughout the years.

 

 

 

Biography:

Diane is a West Virginia native and alumni of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Edgewood Summit, Charleston’s premier Continuum Care Retirement Community.

Diane is a certified Aging Service Professional and a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She began her career in senior living as Assistant Administrator at the initial Arthur B Hodges Center in 1986. Since then, Diane has pursued a career in senior living where a lifestyle of enjoyment, comfort, security, freedom and respect would be provided for seniors. Working closely with a group of community leaders, the vision of Edgewood Summit became a reality, when it opened in 1995, becoming a hallmark of its kind.

Diane was actively involved in the development and passage of new legislation for Residential Care Communities in 1997, which includes the licensure of The Ridgemont at Edgewood Summit. In 1999 she led a push for an expansion which resulted in 37 additional Independent Living units. In 2013 Diane oversaw the completion of Edgewood Summits’ continuum of care with the development and opening of the Arthur B. Hodges Center at Edgewood Summit, which provides memory support and skilled nursing services. Diane has served on the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Health Care Association as President, Vice President, Secretary and Chair Person of various committees including the West Virginia Ombudsman Committee. Her passion truly is to make the lives of West Virginia seniors the best it can be. She shares her extensive knowledge, experience and passion by also serving as regional advisor for continuum of care communities across the country.

As Executive Director, Diane has the primary responsibility for the over-all operations of the community on a daily basis. This includes managing resident care and services for over 200 residents, managing a staff of over 150 employees, creating and maintaining an attractive, congenial environment for all residents, families and visitors, operating the community in the highest standards of retirement community service, complying with all applicable federal and state regulations, providing all services as required to the residents, managing in an efficient, business-like manner and insuring that operations are conducted within the approved financial budget.

Diane steps up to pilot many community improvements and leads by example to ensure the highest customer service at all levels. Her leadership has resulted in many Greystone Diamond Awards for the Edgewood Summit Community and frequent OHFLAC deficiency free surveys of our licensed care services. Diane’s leadership has developed a unique culture of hospitality, compassion, professionalism and friendliness. She works daily to develop her team of employees to be the best of the best. Today Edgewood Summit offers a variety of services to senior residents living in 127 Independent Living units, 40 Residential Care units, 18 Memory Care units and 20 Skilled Nursing units. The future of Edgewood Summit is bright and secure for both its residents and employees culturally and financially as a result of Diane’s leadership.
