Our mission is to provide an attractive and caring senior living community for older adults in Charleston, WV., the Kanawha Valley region. We are committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of inclusion and connectedness. We’re able to grow and learn better together with a diverse family of residents and a diverse team of employees.

Edgewood Summit is owned by Edgewood Summit, Inc., a nonprofit corporation whose sole purpose is to operate the community for the benefit of residents. We’re governed by a volunteer board of directors, and day-to-day management services are provided by Greystone.

Historic milestones

1995: Edgewood Summit opens in Kanawha County, offering 90 independent living apartments and 40 assisted living apartments.

2001: Our community grows as we add an additional 37 independent living apartments.

2013: The Arthur B. Hodges Center opens, providing memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. Named for the benefactor of the Phase III project, these new levels of care make Edgewood Summit a true continuing care retirement community (CCRC) — the only one of its kind in Charleston, West Virginia and one of only four in the state.

Residents of Edgewood Summit remain involved in Charleston, both individually and through organized community activities. Many are civic leaders. Others volunteer their time, continuing to contribute in large and small ways.
