COVID-19 Update | September 29, 2020

Information became available today of an Employee at the Arthur B. Hodges Center (Hodges Center) who tested positive for COVID-19 through the rapid antigen test as a result of having symptoms.  The results are being confirmed with a nonrapid test and more should be known within the next 48 hours.  As a result of the news, all Hodges Center Employees and Residents are being tested at the direction of the Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  The Employee is isolating at home and will not return to work until symptoms have resolved and test results are negative.  At this time, we have no other Residents or Staff with symptoms.  We continue to offer support and assistance to all and are screening daily.

Edgewood Summit has maintained a vigilant strategy with COVID-19 precautions over the past seven (7) months and have not had any positive cases since the pandemic began.  Our Employees are highly skilled and trained in proper infection control and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).   As per the guidance of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the outbreak protocols have been initiated at the Hodges Center which limits and further restricts staffing assignments and other actions as directed.

The Hodges Center has been previously inspected by the WV Department of Health and Human Services and was found proficient in quality of care standards, including infection control.  It is important to remember the number of positive cases in West Virginia grows each day and the Coronavirus battle continues.

We thank you for your continued cooperation and support as we work to keep our Community safe.  We will provide updates and additional information as it becomes available.
